  • 10 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. fine salt
  • 1 (1-pound) day-old loaf French bread
  • 1 1/2 pounds apples
  • 1 cup dulce de leche

In a large bowl, place inside the eggs and whisk. Add in the buttermilk, apple juice, cream, sugar, vanilla seeds, cinnamon and salt. Whisk the mixture. Add in the bread. Cover bowl and let refrigerate. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove bread from refrigerator and coat a baking pan with butter. Peel, slice and core apples and add them to bread mixture. Place into half of the mixture in the pan and pour half the dulce leche mixture over, then vice-versa with remaining bread mixture. Cover pan with foil and bake for an hour. Remove foil and then let bake for another 45 minutes.
