Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup whipping cream
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 large cored, peeled, and sliced apples
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ¼ teaspoon apple pie spice
  • Caramel sauce

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the butter in a large pan and add the whipping cream and brown sugar, cooking over low heat and stirring occasionally. When the butter is melted pour the mix into a cake pan. Top with the apple slices and pecans. Mix the cake mix, water, oil, apple pie spice, and eggs in a large bowl and beat on low speed. When the mix is moist, beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Spoon the batter into the cake pan. Bake for 45 minutes and then allow the pan to cool. Place a serving plate over the pan and flip them over so the cake is on the platter. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve.
