We love how pleasurable these cookies look with a mix of chocolate and vanilla! Not to mention, they are easy to make too as long as you follow these quick directions.

  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1/2 C. confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 C. white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 Tbs. cocoa powder, unsweetened

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Mix butter, sugars and vanilla. Add eggs. Beat until fluffy. Sift flour, salt and soda. Divide batter in half. Take 1/2 of batter and add cocoa powder. Mix well. Place each batter on a lightly floured surface and dough out to squares. Cut about 3/4 strips. Place strips on plastic wrap. Alternate chocolate and white strips until it makes a checkerboard effect. Wrap checkerboard dough with plastic wrap and freeze for 15 minutes. When done, cut pieces into even squares. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
