  • 2 C. Frozen Ground Meat Mix*
  • 1/4 C. Water
  • 1 Clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 C. Long grain rice
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter (or margarine)
  • 3 C. Water
  • 1 C. Shredded carrot
  • 2 tsp. Instant beef bouillon granules
  • 1 tsp. Dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. Minced dried onion
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried basil (crushed)
  • 2 oz. American cheese (shredded)

In a saucepan, combine frozen Ground Meat Mix*, 1/4 cup of water, and garlic. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes; break up meat mixture with a fork. Cover and cook 5 minutes longer. Drain off liquid. Remove from pan and set aside. In the same saucepan, cook uncooked rice in butter (or margarine) until golden brown, stirring frequently. Stir in water, carrot, bouillon granules, parsley flakes, dried onion, salt, and basil. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in meat mixture. Turn into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish Cover; bake in a 325 F oven for 45 minutes, stirring twice. Sprinkle shredded cheese over casserole. Bake uncovered, about 5 minutes longer or until cheese melts. *Ground Meat Mix recipe located in this program
