A party wouldn't be complete without this savory bread. Guests will love pulling apart this cheesy appetizer. The blend of fontina, oregano and parsley will fill the room with a delicious aroma.

  • 1 round loaf sourdough bread
  • 1/2 C unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 medium cloves garlic, minced
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 C finely grated fontina cheese
  • 1 tsp. oregano, finely minced
  • 1 Tbs. parsley, for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cut bread loaf into 1-inch slices in one direction, then perpendicular, forming porcupine-like bread fingers. Do not cut bottom crust. Place on baking sheet.

Melt butter, salt and garlic in saucepan or microwave. Pour over bread. Sprinkle grated fontina and oregano.

Cover with foil and bake loaf for 15 minutes, or until warmed through. Remove foil and bake another 15 to 20 minutes, until edges of loaf are toasty and cheese has melted.

Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
