I never cared for the rice in the peppers, so this is my Italian twist. If you like lasagna, then you'll love this recipe. This is an easy recipe that doesn't require pressure cooking, keeping the peppers firm and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 4 lg. peppers
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 pkg. 4-cheese Italian blend, shredded

Directions

Brown ground beef, drain. Mix ground beef, tomato sauce and garlic powder in a bowl. Remove tops of peppers, clean. Spoon ground beef mixture into pepper, (about 2 Tbs.) Add layer of cheese. Repeat, alternating layers until pepper is full. Place upright in a shallow glass casserole dish. Add about 1 inch of water to the bottom of the casserole dish. The water keeps the peppers moist, but firm. Bake at 350 degreesĀ for about 45 minutes uncovered.
