Cherry Bird’s Nest Cookies

These cookies are fun to bake, and fun to look at! They're great for Easter or any other holiday.

30 min preparation + 20 min cooking


  • 1 1/2 lbs. butter or margarine
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 6 egg whites
  • 16 dozen whole glace cherries
  • 12 oz. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 lbs. flour
  • 1 1/2 lbs. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolks. Mix in flour. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Beat egg whites slightly. Dip balls in egg white, then in chopped pecans. Place on baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Bake in oven for 8 minutes. Remove from oven. Press small depression in center. Bake 10 minutes longer. Loosen cookies from pan while still warm. Place a whole glace cherry in center of each.
