Ingredients

  • 1 10-oz. jar maraschino cherries
  • 1 12-oz. bag semisweet chocolate chips (2 C.)
  • 1/2 C. butter or regular margarine
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 12-oz. bag semisweet chocolate chunks (2 C.)
  • cherry drizzle (see additional recipe under this name)

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Drain cherries well. Reserve liquid for cherry drizzle. Cut the cherries in half. Set aside. Melt chocolate chips and butter in a 3-qt. saucepan over low heat; stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, flour, vanilla, baking powder, salt, and eggs. Stir in cherries and the chocolate chunks. Spread the dough in an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Bake for 32-37 minutes or until the center is set. Cool completely, about one hour. Place cherry drizzle in a resealable plastic food-storage bag. Cut off tip of bag. Squeeze drizzle in desired patter on top of cooled brownies. For brownies, cut 6 rows by 4 rows.
