Chewy Caramel Apples

This is a great recipe to make with kids because everything melts in the microwave. Kids will love the sticky sweetness of the caramel on the apple.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium size apples
  • 4 caramel apple sticks
  • 1 10 oz. bag or 2 6 oz. bags Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. evaporated milk

Directions

Push sticks into tops of apples. Place caramels and milk in a 1 quart microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high, stirring frequently until smooth, about 3 minutes. Dip and swirl apples in melted caramel mixture, using a spoon to spread evenly. Place caramel covered apples on a wax paper until caramel sets.

Variations: Instead of using evaporated milk, try substituting your favorite flavored coffee creamer. Add your favorite chopped nuts immediately after dipping in caramel for great tasting texture.
