Chewy Chocolate Chip Peppermint Cookies

- 1/2 C. unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 C. shortening, at room temperature
- 3/4 C. white sugar
- 3/4 C. brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 C. flour
- 1 1/2 C. chocolate chips
- 1 C. crushed candy cane
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Beat together the butter, shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar.
Beat in the eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
Combine the baking soda, salt, and flour in a small bowl. Gradually beat the mixture into the creamed mixture.
Stir in the chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
Drop onto lightly greased cookie sheets by teaspoons.
Bake at 350 for about 12 minutes or until lightly golden brown around edges.
