Forget those boring burgers and spice up your backyard barbecue.

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1/4 C. chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. liquid hot pepper sauce
  • 6 oz. cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 2 Tbs. green chili peppers, chopped
  • 6 hamburger buns

Preheat barbecue grill. In a large mixing bowl, mix together ground beef, finely chopped onion, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic salt, pepper, liquid hot pepper sauce. Shape the mixture into thin patties, each about 3 1/2-inches in diameter. Divide sliced cheddar cheese and chopped green chili peppers over half the patties. Top with the remaining patties sealing the edges firmly. Grill 4-inches from the heat, turning once, until done, about 10 to 15 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.

Makes 6 servings.
