Ingredients

  • For the chili:
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 C. salsa
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1/2 lb. hot dogs, cut into 1/2 pieces
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • salt
  • pepper
  • For the cornbread:
  • 1 6 oz.)package cornbread mix
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • 1 C. cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 can green chiles, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Garnish:
  • 1/2 C. green onions, chopped
  • 1 C. cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions


  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees.

  2. Cook and drain the ground beef. Stir in the chili ingredients.

  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer 10-15 minutes.

  5. Combine all the topping ingredients in a bow. Spoon batter around edge of the chili in a casserole dish.

  6. Bake 20-25 minutes until topping is golden brown. Serve with green onions and additional cheddar cheese.
