Chocolate Bavarian Cream

Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 C. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 C. light cream or milk
- 1 1/2 pkg. unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 C. water
- 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 C. whipping cream
Directions
Beat together egg yolks and sugar until light in color. Heat milk with vanilla. Melt chocolate in hot milk or light cream. Add egg yolk and sugar mixture to the hot milk and chocolate and return to the heat. Cook until the consistency of a thick custard. Do not allow it to boil and be very careful that the chocolate does not burn. Add gelatin dissolved in water. Cool slightly. Add cream, lightly whipped. Chill for 4 hours before serving, then serve in individual dishes.
