  • 26 caramels
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1-1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

To start out, line an eight-inch square dish with plastic wrap and set aside. Combine the caramels, the milk chocolate chips, and the cream in a microwave-safe container. Microwave it uncovered and on high for one minute, then stir. Microwave for another minute but stir every fifteen seconds or until caramels are entirely melted and the mixture has a smooth texture. Spread the mixture into your dish and refrigerate until firm (usually around an hour). Once firm, lift out the candy and cut into thirty pieces. Roll the pieces into one-inch balls and then refrigerate for another hour. Finally, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with the shortening and stir smooth. You can dip the caramel candy in it, place it on wax paper, and let it stand for a few minutes. Put it back in the fridge until it's firm, and enjoy!
