  • 1 (18.25 oz.) pkg. moist chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 C. flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/4 C. water
  • 3 C. oil for frying, or as needed
  • Chocolate glaze:
  • 1/2 C. milk chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbs. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbs. corn syrup
  • 1 to 1 tsp. hot water

In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, flour, water, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 5 minutes, or until batter is smooth. Heat oil in a large, deep skillet. Carefully drop 2 Tbs. batter into hot oil in batches. Cook donuts in hot oil for 4 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Flip once with a fork mid-way through for even cooking. Carefully remove donuts from oil with slotted spoon or tongs, and drain on paper towels. For chocolate glaze, heat chocolate chips, butter and corn syrup in sauce pan over low heat. Stir frequently until melted. Cool for 10 minutes. Stir in hot water - 1 tsp. at a time - until glaze is thick. Dip each donut in chocolate glaze. If you desire, garnish with sprinkles. Place in fridge until firm.
