You don't have to go to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cake this year with a simple chocolate recipe! Layer the cake and the ice cream together and freeze until it is time to serve.

  • 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream, softened
  • 1 can chocolate frosting
  • 1/4 C. chocolate chunks
  • 2 mint leaves

Prepare the cake according to the directions and bake in a large rectangular pan. Cut the ice cream in half lengthwise with a wire and place side by side on wax paper. Place the cake over the ice cream once it has cooled. Trim the cake and ice cream so the edges match. Hold onto the paper and flip the ice cream cake. Freeze until very firm. Top with frosting, chocolate chunks, and mint leaves before serving.
