  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 2 1/4 C. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1-oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 C. buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 C. boiling water
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 1/4 C. flour
  • Store bought chocolate fudge frosting

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Grease an 11x15 inch cake pan.  Cream butter and brown sugar.  Add eggs and beat until fluffy.  Stir in chocolate, buttermilk, vanilla, and water mixed with baking soda.  Blend in flour. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cake cool for 15 minutes and then ice cake with fudge frosting.
