  • THIS COOKIE IS GREAT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED SOME COOKIES FAST... I'VE BEEN MAKING THIS ONE SINCE I WAS 9 YRS.OLD AND THAT IS 46 YRS. NOW... YOU MIX THE SUGAR, MILK, BUTTER & COCOA POWDER IN A POT ON MED./LOW TEMP. UNTIL IT COMES TO A FULL BOIL, THEN TAKE IT OFF THE HEAT(DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS GAS OR ELECTRIC) THEN ADD PEANUT BUTTER & VANILLA AND MIX UNTIL SMOOTH, THEN ADD YOUR OATMEAL STIR UNTIL ALL MIXED, THEN DROP ON WAXED PAPER... I HAVE ALSO ADDED MARSHMALLOW CREAM AND COCONUT...

  • There are a couple of important steps for this recipe: (1) Do not start counting the boiling time until AFTER the entire surface is bubbling hard; (2 Do not add the oatmeal until AFTER you have melted the peanut butter in the hot mixture. Then add the Vanilla, and last add the oatmeal. But work fast so it doesn't set up on you too fast.

By the way - adding more peanut butter makes this even creamier.

Also, if you pour the entire mixture into a jelly roll or any cookie sheet with sides, you can let it set up then cut into squares. Then get yourself a piece because once you turn around - IT'S GONE.

I have made this for my children (both grown) and grandchildren and it is the only magic trick I perform because before I know it - they've devoured it. Yummy Yummy - hmmm maybe I should go see if I have these ingredients -- hmmm - sounds like a plan.

  • These cookies are great but if yu are allergic to peanuts yu can substitute marshmallow cream for the peanut butter. they turn out just as good. My recipe calls for boiling it 4 minutes and only using 2 cups of oatmeal

  • These are absolutely delicous. Only, I don't leave it boil 1 minute. They get too dry. I take it off the stove as soon as it boils. I add the vanilla & peanut butter, and then pour into oats, 1/2 at a time. Easy as pie to make. Very good.

  • I have made these forever. My friend loves them and wanted the recipe so I gave it to her and she tried them several times and they flopped everytime. We kept comparing what the difference in the ingredients that might cause this but they were all the same. There was only one difference, she had a gas stove and mine is electric. We thought it was probably because the gas heats so fast and the electric was slower.
Thanks to the commenter who said they used an ice cream scoop. I've always tr

  • I have been making this recipe for several years now. It was called Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. The only difference was after I boiled the milk, sugar, butter, and cocoa, I take it off the stove and add extra crunchy peanut butter, oats, and vanilla. Then I drop it on wax paper to cool.

  • We made these all of my life and it had been passed down from my grandmother. We prefer them without the peanut butter.

  • You can also leave out the cocoa and add extra peanut butter to make Oatmeal Peanut butter No-Bakes.

  • We made these at the store when I worked. We couldn't make them fast enough to keep up with the demand. We cooked the sugar, milk and sugar to a roiling boil and let it boil until the sugar is melted (no sugar crystals visible). We mixed the oats, peanut butter and cocoa in a large bowl sometimes I would use a little vanilla but is not necessary, pour sugar mixture into the oat mixture until thoroly mixed and used a ice cream scoop to dip, about half full or to your liking. Drop onto wax pap

  • This is an excellent recipe however one suggestion I have for any health conscious persons is to use carob instead of chocolate.
There is a company called Holy Food Imports which sells excellent carob along with many other products.
You can find their website at www.holyfoodimports.com

  • I have made this recipe for several year handed down to me by my father in law. You only use one large pan. You may also add some coconut to it. Tasted great

  • I have made this recipe for many years handed down from my grandmother. I combine sugar, cocoa, milk and oleo in large saucepan. Boil for 1 min. Remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla til melted then add 2 to 3 cups oats sometimes it doesn't take all 3 cups. then spoon on to waxed paper or foil with a tablespoon. This way you only have one pan to wash. If you add too much oats they will be harder I usually use about 2 1/2 cups rarely 3 cups. After making them a few times you will learn

  • Sorry i meant first four ingredients

  • I have a recipe very much like this recipe. In my recipe you cook the first 3 ingredients and then stir in the peanut butter, vanilla and rolled oats. I believe the bowl is just to hold the measured oats until needed. Be sure to remove from hear prior to adding other ingredients.

  • susanni...what i think they are saying....(it had me confused at first also) is that you cook the sugar, cocoa, milk and oleo... and in a SEPERATE bowl mix the peanut butter vanilla and oatmeal and then pour the HOT cocoa mixture onto this and then stir....that should be enough to melt the PB...i am going to try it this way....

  • If you say to pour in the chocolate, that means it isn't the powdered kind or at least, is not in liquid form. What is really meant here?
