  • 1 stick + 6 T. butter, room temperature
  • ¼ C. brown sugar
  • 1 ½ C. flour
  • Dash salt
  • 2 C. dark chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ C. sugar
  • ¼ C. water
  • 1 C. heavy cream
  • 1 T. coarse sea salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a mixer, beat brown sugar and 1 stick of butter until pale and fluffy, add in flour and salt, and continue to mix briefly until combined. Press this dough evenly into a baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes. In a saucepan, heat sugar and water over medium heat making sure to stir constantly to prevent burning. Once sugar is melted and a light amber color, add in 6 tablespoons of butter, cream, and sea salt. Heat and stir until smooth. Place chocolate chips in a separate large bowl. Take caramel mixture and carefully pour over chocolate, stirring as chocolate melts entirely. Let cool for 15 minutes. Pour chocolate caramel over cooled crust and refrigerate overnight for best results. Top with a sprinkle of sea salt, slice, and serve!
