  • C: 15 min
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 6 T. butter, melted
  • ¾ C. buttermilk
  • 2 T. sugar
  • ¼ C. + 2 T. honey, divided
  • 3 ½ C. flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp. dry active yeast
  • Dash salt
  • ¾ C. poppy seeds
  • ½ C. vanilla sugar
  • ¼ C. milk

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, egg yolks, butter, buttermilk, sugar, 2 tablespoons of honey, yeast, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Use your hands to work in remaining flour until it forms a dough. Once it is smooth, form into a ball, place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for 2 hours. Use a food processor to blend poppy seeds, vanilla sugar, milk, and remaining honey; set aside. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread on poppy seed filling, roll up, cut into slices, and bake for 15 minutes.
