Skip a trip to TGI Friday's and make crispy mozzarella sticks from home! Combine bread crumbs and string cheese sticks to create this tasty fried appetizer.

  • 2/3 C. flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 C. milk
  • 1 C. Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 C. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
  • 8 pieces mozzarella string cheese
  • 1 qt. vegetable oil

Put the flour in a shallow bowl and combine the eggs and milk in another bowl. Combine the Panko, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, and seasoning salt in another shallow bowl. Slice the string cheese pieces in half lengthwise to make 16 mozzarella sticks. Dip the cheese sticks in the flour, then the egg wash, and then the bread crumbs. Arrange them on a baking tray and freeze for at least 1 hour. Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees. Fry the cheese sticks in batches until golden. Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing.
