  • 3 C. penne pasta, uncooked
  • 1 lb. ground sirloin beef
  • 1 cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare the pasta according to package instructions. Use a large skillet to brown the beef with the onions. When finished, drain. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Cook until the ingredients are heated through and set aside. Remember to stir periodically when cooking. Take out a 9x13-inch baking dish and spray it with cooking spray. Transfer the cooked pasta into a large bowl. Add the tomato mixture and 2 cups of cheese to the bowl and toss to evenly coat. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Bake the pasta in your preheated oven for 25 minutes, which is how long it should take for the pasta to be heated through. Serve.
