Wake up early this Sunday morning to prepare waffles for the whole family. Better yet, also make a homemade pomegranate syrup to drizzle on top of the waffles.

  • Waffles:
  • 1 3/4 C. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbs. melted butter
  • 1 C. milk
  • 2 eggs, whites and yolks separated
  • Pomegranate Syrup:
  • 2 C. pomegranate juice
  • 1 C. sugar

For waffles, mix and sift dry ingredients. Beat egg yolk with the milk. Combine salt and add to dry ingredients. Fold in beaten egg whites. Mix until smooth. Warm up waffle maker and spray with oil before pouring batter. Pour batter and follow cooking times according to waffle maker instructions. 

To prepare syrup, mix juice and sugar in small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir frequently. Remove from heat and cool before pouring on waffles.
