This recipe is from my grandma, who got it from a Pillsbury Bake-Off Cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 C. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 C. butter
  • 1 C. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 Tbs. instant coffee mix
  • 1 C. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C. almonds or walnuts, chopped

Cream the butter and brown sugar together. Sift together and blend in the flour, salt, baking powder, coffee mix, almond extract, chocolate chips, and nuts.  Press into a well-greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
