This recipe was given to me a few years ago by a friend from South Africa. They are a lot like the Italian cookie...the Milano. I make mine with special dark chocolate or a semi sweet chocolate....but you could fill these as you wish. It's a very delicious cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1 C. butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
  • 1 3/4 C. confectioner's sugar,sifted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 C. flour
  • 12 oz. special dark chocolate or semi sweet chocolate morsels, melted

Directions

Cream butter and sugar, until light and creamy. Add vanilla, salt, eggs and flour to make a soft dough. Spoon into a piping bag or a cookie press with a large star tip. On a greased cookie sheet, pipe 3-inch long cookies, leaving room to spread. Bake in a 400-degree preheated oven, for 12 minutes. Allow to cool. Sandwich with melted chocolate.
