Here's a new way to get your caffeine fix! There's cola in the batter and frosting of this cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1 C. Coca-Cola
  • 3/4 C. miniature marshmallows
  • 1 square semi sweet baking chocolate
  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 1/2 C. vegetable oil
  • 3/4 C. cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 2 1/3 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • Frosting:
  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1/2 C. cocoa powder
  • 1/4 C. Coca Cola
  • 3 C. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 C. chocolate syrup

  1. Bring butter, cola, semi sweet baking square and to a boil then remove from heat.

  2. Add marshmallows and stir until blended. Set aside to cool.

  3. Blend the shortening, oil, vanilla and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and buttermilk and beat until smooth.

  4. Mix flour with baking soda, cocoa, baking powder and salt, add half of flour mixture to shortening, egg mixture, and beat.

  5. Add cooled cola mixture and beat.

  6. Add remainder of flour and beat until completely smooth about 3 -4 minutes.

  7. Place batter into a 13" x 9" x " 2 oiled and floured baking pan.

  8. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes.

  9. For the frosting: Beat butter, add cocoa, vanilla, syrup and coca cola until smooth. Add powder sugar a little at a time and beat constantly.
