  • 3 pounds fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 eggs, or 1 cup egg substitute
  • 2 cans condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
  • 1 quart heavy whipping cream
  • 1 quart half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons vanilla extract

Take the strawberries and wash, core and slice them. Gently mix the strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Have the strawberries sit for 1 hour. Mix together the remaining ingredients and refrigerate. Heat the strawberries on in a heavy saucepan. Once they begin to boil, turn the heat down and let them simmer for 5 minutes. Cool strawberries and put them in a food processor until small bits are remaining. Mix the berries and milk together and freeze according to ice cream freezer's instructions.
