Country Style Green Beans

Country Style Green Beans

This dish was inspired by my mom who in my opinion is the best cook in the whole world. It is so simple and easy to prepare that it will dress up any meat as a side dish. My teenage sons also cook this and they even tell their girlfriends' moms about it.

On medium-high heat, thoroughly fry the bacon to a crispy texture. Remove bacon and set aside. In the bacon dripping add chopped or diced onion and saute to an opaque, or near clear appearance. Crumble the bacon that you set aside. After you turn down the heat to about medium heat, add the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Immediately add the drained green beans and crumbled bacon to the onion mixture. Lightly stir the beans to evenly coat and turn down heat to a simmer.

  • I've tried this yesterday and it was way too salty and too much black pepper. Since using bacon it's salty enough without adding more salt and maybe 1/4 tsb of black pepper would have been enough. Other than that it has a good flavor. I will make it again but not adding salt and little less black pepper.
