Cranberry Surprise Pie

This recipe uses fresh cranberries and is a great addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner! It has been passed down from my grandmother and anyone who has tried it wants the recipe.

Time needed

15 minutes preparation + 50 minutes cooking

Ingredients

  • 2 C. fresh cranberries, washed
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. chopped walnuts or pecans, toasted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. butter, melted
  • 1/4 C. shortening, melted

Directions

Grease well a 10-inch pie plate. Spread cranberries over the bottom of the plate. Sprinkle with 1/2 C. sugar and nuts. Beat eggs well. Add 1 C. sugar and beat well. Add flour and melted butter and melted shortening. Beat well. Pour batter over the top of the cranberries. Spread carefully to cover berries. Bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Bake until golden brown. Cut like a pie.
