The classic combination of ham and cheese has become the basis for an elegant dinner. Tender pieces of ham are mixed together with ridged gnocchi pasta, and smothered in a deliciously decadent homemade cheese sauce.

  • 2 1/2 C. Skim Milk
  • 3 Tbs. All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tbs. Yellow Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
  • 1/8 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
  • 3 oz. Reduced Fat Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 lb. Gnocchi Pasta, cooked and drained
  • 1 3/4 C. Cooked Chopped Ham

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9x9" baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together the milk, flour, mustard, salt and pepper. Stir sauce continuously until it reaches a boil. Continue cooking and stirring for about five more minutes until the sauce is reduced and creamy. Remove from heat and whisk in the cheddar cheese until melted. In a large mixing bowl, combine the gnocchi pasta and ham. Pour in the sauce. Stir to coat the ham and gnocchi. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Cover with foil. Bake for 10 minutes, then uncover and continue baking for 15 minutes until casserole is warmed through and bubbly.
