This is the quickest gumbo recipe I've ever come across, and you'll absolutely love the fabulous flavors!

6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. sliced onion
  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 4 Tbs. flour
  • 1 lb. crabmeat
  • 1 lb. okra, cut up
  • 5 C. canned tomatoes
  • 1 C. diced green pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 C. water

Directions

Saute onion in butter 10 minutes. Stir in flour and brown. Add crabmeat and other ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, simmer for 1 hour.
