Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onion, sliced into 1/4 inch rings separated
  • 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 T. baking soda
  • 1 lg egg, beaten
  • 3/4 C. milk
  • 1 T. ground pepper
  • fine bread crumbs
  • oil for frying

Directions

Warm oil in fryer, or pot with oil.

Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, coat each ring in dry mixture and set aside on a plate or baking sheets. Combine leftover dry ingredients with egg and milk, salt and pepper. Beat until batter is smooth, coat each ring fully, shaking away excess bater. Then coat on both sides in bread crumbs.

Fry rings in oil until golden brown. Serve warm.
