Crock Pot Swiss Steak With Tomatoes

This is my one of my favorite crock pot dishes. Love to come home from work to this. Remember to use the crockpot liners. These can be found in your grocery stores in the aisle where the foil and plastic wraps are.

Time needed

4-7 hour cooking

  • 1 tenderized round steak, cut into individual portions
  • 1 C. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • salt (optional - I usually omit because there is salt in the tomatoes)
  • oil for frying pan
  • 4 15-oz. cans stewed tomatoes
  • steamed rice

Tenderize your individual steak pieces by pounding them between two pieces of plastic wrap on both sides. (You may also have this done at the grocery store if possible).

Mix the flour and spices together with a whisk. Heat oil in pan. Dredge the steak in the flour and fry in oil until just browned on both sides. Put meat in a crock pot. Pour stewed tomatoes over the top and cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Serve this with steamed rice.

Hint: Use a crockpot liner for easier cleanup!
