  • The way I look at it is...I have made Stroganoff without the usage of salt since there's enough salt within the ingredients...made with using steak cubes, strips, or burger meat...all works well. You do need the sour cream to enhance the flavor which brings it all together. For those who don't want to use mushrooms and the mushroom soups then offset with something else that's to your liking...experiment if you will!

  • I was concerned this was just too easy to be good, but I am a BELIEVER NOW. I tripled the recipe, used top sirloin rather than stew meat, and I stirred in some sour cream at the end. WOW! I'm still amazed at how well this turned out! It doesn't taste too salty either. The noodles and the steak take up the flavors beautifully.

  • stroganoff should have sour cream in it, maybe brown the meat and then stir in sour cream at the end and don't add extra mushrooms. You can also use low sodium soups.

  • If mushrooms are a problem, I wonder if other soups can be Cream of celery, etc, and just omit the mushrooms.Or use the low sodium versions.

  • You are adding an awful lot of salt in the recipe.

  • My blood pressure skyrocketed just thinking about the sodium content in the combined soups. Sorry, doesn't pique my appetite.

  • The whole idea, Chuckyx1, is easy and those soups are very good as gravy enhancers. I'm trying it this evening and I'll let you know how it is.
