  • 1 Ciabatta bread
  • 4 oz. deli ham
  • ¼ C. whole milk
  • ½ Tbs. unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbs. flour
  • 1 Tbs. fresh thyme
  • ½ C. Gruyere cheese
  • ¼ C. Parmesan, grated
  • Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Heat the milk in a small saucepan. In another pan, melt the butter and then whisk in the flour. Add in the thyme and milk and continue to stir. Simmer the mixture for 2 minutes while whisking and remove from the heat. Whisk in the salt and pepper. Cut the crust off of the top of the bread and then slice the loaf in half lengthwise. Place the mustard, ham, and half of the Gruyere on one half of the bread. Toast the bread on a baking sheet until the cheese is melty and browning. Pour the milk mixture on top and the remaining cheeses. Broil on high until the cheese is golden brown. Let the sandwich cool for 10 minutes before eating.
