Dad's Slaw
Added: 3rd June 2007
Ingredients
- 1 16 oz. package slaw mix
- 1 large, ripe, red tomatoe
- 1 large cucmber
- 1 C. dill salad cubes, drained well
- 1/2-3/4 C. Kraft Real Mayonaise (other products, such as Miracle Whip and Hellman's do NOT work, they don't have the same consistency OR flavor - must be a real mayo and not a salad dressing type of mayo)
- Celery Seed
- Black Pepper
Directions
Place the dill salad cubes into a wire mesh strainer to drain while prepping other ingredients. Dump the slaw mix onto a large cutting board and run chef's knife through a few times to get a smaller chop. (Do not chop fine like in most slaw recipes, you want large, bite size chop). Add to large mixing bowl. Peel and shop cucumber and add to bowl. Dice tomato and add to bowl. Add pickles, a few dashes of fresh ground black pepper, and 2 dashes of celery seed. Begin to stir in mayo a little at a time until desired consistency. (No salt is really needed, and it will also cause the slaw to "weep" because of the natural water in the cucmber and tomato).
