Double Chocolate-Cherry Drops
- 2 oz. baking chocolate squares, unsweetened
- 1 1/4 C. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 C. sugar
- 1 lg. egg
- 2 Tbs. milk
- 3/4 C. walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1/2 C. chocolate chips
- 12 med. maraschino cherries, chopped and drained
Melt baking chocolate, set aside. Blend flour, baking powder, salt together; set aside.
Beat shortening, vanilla together; gradually add sugar, cream until fluffy. Then add egg, and beat. Mix in the cooled chocolate. Add dry ingredients and milk. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop by level tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees about 10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing.
