  • 2 lb. chicken breast, boneless
  • 2 lb. steak, boneless
  • ½ small onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • ½ C. plain whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbs. extra virgin olive oil
  • 12 pita rolls
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • ½ lb. Swiss cheese

In a food processor, pulse onion and garlic until pureed. Chop the chicken and beef into pieces. In a large bowl, stir together onion puree, chicken, beef, breadcrumbs, lemon juice and zest, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix together until well combined. Drizzle olive oil into crock pot and pour in mixture. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 6-8 hours. Turn off crock pot and remove lid 30 minutes before serving. Serve on warm pita bread with lettuce, tomato, and cheese.
