Make your own crunchy and chewy granola bars at home with this quick and easy recipe. All you could want is packed into these bars from raisins, cranberries, pretzels, peanut butter and even a smooth chocolate drizzle. Extra ingredients you could put inside include chocolate chips and nuts.

  • 2 C rolled oats
  • 1/4 C pecans, chopped
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1/4 C maple syrup
  • 1/4 C peanut butter (sweetened or natural, whichever you prefer)
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 C crispy rice cereal
  • 3/4 C pretzels, chopped
  • 1/4 C dried raisins and cranberries
  • Chocolate syrup, for drizzle

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Spread oats and pecans on a baking tray and roast until golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together butter, sugar, maple syrup and peanut butter. Once warm, remove from heat and add vanilla and salt.

In a bowl, stir together oats, pecans, rice cereal, pretzels and dried fruit. Add the warm peanut butter mixture and stir to coat everything.

Place in a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for 20 to 30 minutes. Cut into bars, drizzle with chocolate syrup and serve.
