  • 2 lb. ground beef, cooked
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 box lasagna noodles, uncooked
  • 1 (2 lb.) container ricotta cheese
  • 2-3 C. mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Sauce:
  • 10-12 cloves garlic
  • 3 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 C. oil
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 Tbs. parsley flakes

To make the sauce, heat 1 C. oil in a saucepan. Add the garlic to the oil and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, smashing the cloves to release the juices. Remove the cooked garlic and discard. Add 3 cans tomato sauce and seasonings. Stir and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.

In a skillet, add some oil and caramelize the onions. Add the ground beef to the onions and season with salt, garlic, oregano, or lemon juice. Cook until browned, then add the pasta sauce. Simmer while making the cheese mixture. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, salt, 1 C. mozzarella cheese, and egg.

Grease the crockpot and put a layer of the meat mixture on the bottom. Add a layer of uncooked noodles and cheese mixture. Repeat the layers again. Finish with the rest of the meat mixture and 1 to 2 C. mozzarella cheese. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
