This elegant pear crumble is perfect for parties, and it makes a sinfully simple potluck dessert! Serve this with a dollop of fresh whipped cream or French vanilla ice cream and you're set.

  • 6 medium pears
  • 1 C. white sugar
  • 3/4 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1 clove
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Peel and core the pears, dicing them into one inch cubes. Put the pears, cinnamon, clove and 3/4 of the sugar in a medium French oven (3 qt.). Stew for approximately 30 minutes, stirring constantly. When the pears can be easily mashed, remove from heat. 

Mix the remaining ingredients in a small bowl until they form a pea-like consistency. Use this to top the cooked apples. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes or until the top is golden-brown and has a crunch.
