Elegant Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus

- 34 medium asparagus spears, ends trimmed
- 1 Tbs. oil
- sea salt and pepper
- 17 thin slices prosciutto, cut in half lengthwise
Heat the oven to a broil and put the rack 5 to 6 inches below the flame.
On a baking sheet drizzle the asparagus with oil. Season with salt and pepper. Toss the spears with your hands until they are evenly coated. Transfer them to a plate and set the baking sheet aside.
Starting at the top, just under the scaled tip, wrap the spear with 1 slice of prosciutto in a downward spiral, making sure to barely overlap the seams. Place the wrapped spear on the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining asparagus. Leave as much space between the spears as possible on the sheet.
Broil the asparagus for 3 minutes, flip and broil for another 3 minutes, or until the asparagus is charred in spots and the prosciutto is crispy and browned.
