  • 8 wooden sticks
  • 8 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 C. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 C. water
  • 1 C. half-and-half
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Dash salt

Before you begin, be sure to chill your apples in the refrigerator. Once chilled, push wooden sticks firmly into apples and return them to refrigerate. In a saucepan, boil and stir together water, corn syrup, and sugar until dissolved. Continue to boil without stirring for 7 to 9 minutes until golden. Gradually add in half-and-half, vanilla, and salt. Stir frequently while boiling until your candy thermometer reaches 235 degrees. Remove from heat and immediately coat apples. Top with nuts, candy bits, chocolate, or whatever you prefer! Place apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and return to the refrigerator to harden.
