  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 1 C. white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C. prune juice
  • 1 C. prunes, cooked and chopped
  • 1 C. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour one 9x13 in. baking pan. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. Set aside. Cream the shortening with the white sugar. Blend in the eggs one at a time and beat well for 1 minute. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the prune juice. Stir in the prunes and nuts. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until done.
