These apple fritters are flaky and amazing. The apple and the fried dough are fantastic together. You might need to make two batches for sharing.

  • 2 C. flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ½ C. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¾ C. butter
  • ¾ C. milk
  • 4 apples, peeled and cut
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 T. butter
  • Canola oil
  • Powdered sugar

Heat the canola oil over medium heat. In a bowl mix all of the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, butter, vanilla extract and milk. Combine dry mixture with the other mixture. Add in the apples and stir. Drop a spoon full of batter into the hot canola oil. Let it fry until it is golden brown. Place it on a plate covered in paper towel. Dust the powder sugar over it. Repeat this process. Serve and enjoy.
