This blueberry and blackberry tart is a perfect summertime treat. These two antioxidants are tasty and tart in this humid weather. Serve with whipped cream or ice-cream on the side for some extra sweetness.

  • For Crust:
  • 1 /2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 1/4 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • For Topping:
  • 4 cups of blueberries
  • 4 cups of blackberries
  • For Filling:
  • 2/3 cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons of course sugar

For Crust:
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar. Then add egg yolk until the texture is smooth. Gradually add the the flour and salt. Keep mixing until the dough sticks together. Use your fingers to make a disk shape on a floured board. Roll out the dough and transfer it into 4 1/2 tart pans that has removable sides. Once you do this, wrap it in a plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

For Filling:
In another bowl, blend flour, sugar, lemon juice. Take a spoon, and spread these mixed ingredients over the pastry to within 2 inches of the edges. Turn the edges of the dough slightly. Take the beaten egg and brush it against the folded pastry. Top the pastry off with a mixture of blueberries and blackberries. Lastly, sprinkle the course sugar.

Bake for 55 minutes and you will know it's done when the crust is golden and brown. Let it cool.
