My sister and I make this every Christmas, always a crowd pleaser, and makes a great gift.

Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz. bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 dash of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 C. nuts, your choice (optional)

Directions

Melt ingredients together in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring to ensure that it doesn't stick or burn. Once it's thoroughly mixed and smooth, pour into a buttered cake pan or just a dinner-size plate. Allow to cool in the refrigerator. Then cut into 1-inch squares.

  • instead of using vanilla, if you use cherry flavoring for candy (the same amount as the vanilla) your fudge will taste like chocolate covered cherries, I have also put dried cherries into this fudge recipe and got rave reviews.

  • Try an 8 x 8 pan. Remember the larger the pan, the thinner the squares.

  • I find that many recipes are quite
    vague re: size of cans or boxes of ingredients, also the dimensions of baking pans used. It would be very helpful to have these sizes stated. Thank you.

  • I love making this fudge. Except I do it in the micro for 2 minutes and immediately pour into buttered pan.

  • It's sweetened condensed milk, which is different than condensed milk, and only comes in one size!
