• 2 egg whites
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
• 3/4 C. sugar
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• Red, green, yellow food coloring
• 1-1/2 C. chocolate chips, chocolate mint chips or nuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add salt and cream of tartar, beating until stiff. Add sugar slowly, beating all the time. Beat until mixture is glossy. Add vanilla and mix. Divide mixture into 3 parts. Tint each with one of the colors. Fold into each part a half C. of the chips or the nuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and place in oven.

Turn oven off, close the door, and do not open for at least 5 hours. These can be left in the oven overnight.
