French Onion Pie

This simple pie is creamy with a touch of heat from cayenne pepper. Crunch French friend onion rings give the pie extra flavor.

  • 1 9-inch pie crust shell
  • 1 3 1/2 oz. can French Fried Onion Rings
  • 1 1/2 C. shredded American cheese
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 2/3 C. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Dash of cayenne pepper

Preheat oven and cookie sheet to 325 degrees. Reserve 1/2 C. French fried onions. Sprinkle remaining onions onto bottom of pie shell. Sprinkle cheese over onions. Combine eggs, milk, salt and cayenne pepper. Pour over cheese. Bake on preheated cookie sheet for 45 minutes. Sprinkle with reserved onions around edge of pie. Bake an additional 6-10 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting.
