  • Chicken:
  • 1 chicken, cut into 6 pieces
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 T. Vegetable oil
  • Buttermilk Waffles:
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 tsp. butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 C. buttermilk
  • Maple Syrup

Heat the vegetable oil in an iron skillet. Rinse the chicken under cold running water and leave it wet. Now in a sealable bag, combine the wet chicken with the flour and shake to coat evenly each piece. Remove and place it over a baking sheet and let it simmer for about 8 minutes. Now remove the chicken from the sheet and place it on the skillet. Cook the chicken until it turns golden brown.

Into a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, and salt together. In a different bowl, beat the eggs. Add butter and buttermilk to the eggs. Now combine both mixtures together.
Pour the mixture into the hot waffle iron and cook until crispy. Serve with the chicken and pour some maple syrup.
